Shade Construction

i-yeu_3115

The canvas is cut and glued into shape. Rods are bent in circles or ellipses and glued to the rims. The most elegant part is the rods connecting the shade to the metal stem. We have a special person trained in this art working full time. It is a slow and tedious job. The completion of only one small shade per day is accomplished. The extra large shade pictured at the bottom of this page took one week.

In the slide show above you can see various patterns we use. There are 5 basic styles. They are listed below.  Three of these styles can be bent or flattened to create different shapes. So the  variety of shapes is expanded.

* Chino
* Funnel-  These can be perfectly circular or flattened to different degrees.
* Cone Tall- These can be perfectly circular or flattened to different degrees.
* Cylinder Tall,  Cylinder Short- These can be perfectly circular or flattened to different degrees.
* Lamp Post
